Bryce frequently varies the inflections in his voice, resulting in an expressive reading that's pleasing to the ear. There's no padding on this lean audio: after the briefest of introductions, it cuts to the chase, presenting simple, concise techniques. Although the title is an overstatement, Lieberman does offer useful strategies rooted in basic human psychology and supported by numerous studies. For example, a person tends to like you more after he or she does you a favor, not the other way around. (Subconsciously, he assumes that he must like you, since he helped you.) Another tip: to get someone to find you attractive, set the first date in an environment of heightened physical arousal, like an amusement park. The person will interpret his or her adrenaline rush and rapid heartbeat as sexual desire for whomever he or she is with. Simultaneous release with the St. Martin's hardcover.

not as GOOD as its TITLE!

This book started in a very interesting, reasonable path. But all through the way many weak points took place in his book!
1. "Get anyone to like you, love you or just think you're great"; was my best section. It was very acceptable, logical and easy to swallow.
2. His second section: "Never be fooled, tricked, manipulated, used, lied to, or taken advantage of again" was a mix between his other book "Never Be Lied to Again" and other testing methods. But still was acceptable.
3. His third section: "Take control of any situation and get anyone to do anything"; was in some parts rich as in "The Greatest secrets of leadership (age 89)" and in "How to get a stubborn person to change his mind about anything (page 72)" but in some others was manipulative for the weak characters as in "Get anyone to do a favor for you (page 81)". And it got very boring and difficult to go with as in "Get anyone to understand anything (page 94)" & "Minority rule" & "How to get any group of people to get along"!
4. Section four was about two subjects: "Secrets of winning in any competition" which I found to be extremely weak for readers to benefit from and of an extremely exaggerated title! But the other subject was about "The #1 mistake most people make in life" which was very beneficial and reasonable.
5. Section five contained 17 subjects, some were very useful and deeply rich as in "Get anyone to forgive you for anything (page 118)" but others were manipulative as in "Get anyone to return your phone call immediately (page 115)". Of course others were of no use!
But in summary, I am not saying that this book is useless or worthless... on the contrary some subjects are extremely useful and a must read! All what I am saying is that David Lieberman is in the habit of using bigger titles than the contents.

Very superficial. A few good tips but shallow.

I came across this book in my continuing research of NLP and hypnosis. Neither of which are addressed in this book. This book is a very basic and shallow guide to how to get along better with people. There is no magic here, no great revelations, just basic common sense advice on how to better interact with others.
I won't say the book was bad, it wasn't. However, it is very shallow and there is nothing in here that you wouldn't already know how to do. I expected at least some detailed conversational advice and, while this book had some, it was very limited.
It's a very quick read, very simple, and if you're looking for a good two day read to help you polish up your people skills for a new sales job, or a presentation, you will probably find a few helpful tips in here. If you are looking for something deeper, this isn't it.

these psychology tips do work

I've faced three situations at work where I needed to convince someone to do something or diffuse a sticky situation. In each case I sat down ahead of time with this book and worked out a strategy of what to say using various techniques. Each time it worked like a charm.
The best example was when one of my co-workers was angry at one of my staff members for taking her seat. I used the technique of suggesting a punishment for him that I knew was too harsh (a day off without pay). I had to wince inside as I said it and cross my fingers that it would work. Immediately she said, "Oh no, I'm not asking for anything like that". And thus she began to realize that what he did was not that bad.
Getting someone to return your phone call by leaving a vague message that indicates you'd like to thank them or tell them some good news has also worked for me.
These are the kind of tips in the book. The book explains why they work very well. The book is easy to read. You do have to really think and plan ahead to apply the tips, but when you do, they are very effective.
