Steve has been ranked among the top pool players in the world at various times during his billiard career and he is an Adjunct Professor of English holding two undergraduate degrees, a masters degree, and a Bible diploma. As founder of Gospel Trick Shot Ministries, Inc., a ministry using the sport of billiards to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Steve travels worldwide sharing his testimony and performing Gospel Trick Shot shows at colleges, universities, billiard tournaments, churches, and special events.

Quick and exciting page turner

It's amazing to read about the twists and turns that have occurred in Steve's life. God has used him to do so many great things, and it has apparently been quite the journey to get where he is now. The book is a quick read, but well worth it. You won't want to put it down.

If God can use Pool, he can use you.

Having worked with Steve Lillis in ministry twice, I got the privilege to see the Gospel Trick Shot ministry in action before this book was written. And it was my encounter with him that steered me on the path that I am on now. But You Must! is a story that will impact people of all walks of life. It is not just a story of a sports legend who turned to the dark side and came back. It is a story that the every day person will relate to. The struggles Steve went through are very similar to the struggles many others go through. And through his platform of pool, Steve can reach those people from the church pew-sitter to the pool hall regular. And this story is not finished yet. I cannot recommend this book enough. It has further confirmed my need to pursue the one thing that made Steve and I connect for the first time. In the same way Steve uses pool trick shots to share the Gospel of Christ, God has directed me to use the sport of fencing to do the same thing. I have yet to go out as far as Steve has nationally or internationally, but through Steve, God has directed my fencing ministry from a mere idea to more of a concrete concept and there is so much more to come. Read this book and let God speak to you on how he can use your talents for something far bigger and far greater than you can imagine.

Thought-provoking and encouraging!

I usually read several books at a time, switching back and forth depending upon my mood. However, when I picked up Steve's book, I couldn't put it down. So much of what's in this book resonates with the struggles and the compromises and the questions that so many of us have had at one time or another--in our relationships, in our careers, in our finances, and in our search for "the way"-- but it's Steve's raw honesty about it all that makes it real and causes it to hit home.

The stories of his pool hustling days were, at times, gripping; and at other times, a costly reality check, that caused collateral damage in his relationships and family. Steve's persevering journey of sorting through the turmoil and dedicating himself to finding the Lord's Will for his life is both encouraging and inspirational. It's also a reminder that when we choose to follow the Lord, all of our troubles do not disappear. Although we are forgiven, we still have to deal with the consequences of our past decisions, but as long as we stay focused on the Lord, He will guide us and strengthen us and bring us peace. Restoration is possible--over and over and over again.

Kudos to Devra Robledo for transcribing Steve's story and penning such a superb book!

Running an office for about 16 psychologists, I find myself reading a ton of self help books to recommend to the therapists for their patients. I must say, I have never read a book as honest as Socially Accepted. The author lays it all out there without holding back. It's extremely refreshing to have such straight forward help without any sugar coating. Not only will this be very helpful for young people who have a hard time being social but it was HILARIOUS. It's like no other self-help book I've read & I've read quite a bit of them. I really enjoyed it! --Gabriella Reyes

Socially Accepted had a very unique tone. At parts it was inspiring, motivating, comical, formal, and informal. It was as if you were having dinner with a friend you lost touch with hearing stories, lessons, advice, and wisdom. This book was definitely one that was difficult to put down. a lot of the first half is common sense stuff for the benefit of the really truly horribly socially awkward

Three things to know about this book. First, the author is male -- not a problem but it does mean that a lot of his advice is geared towards men. In fact, he admits this fact. Second, a lot of the first half is common sense stuff for the benefit of the really truly horribly socially awkward. But hey, there's a foundation to build upon for those that need it. Finally, I found the last half more insightful.

Want to be a bro?

This book is like listening to a bro talk about how cool he is and how many chicks he's been with. I should have read the reviews first, as I thought this was a book about actually being socially awkward in today's society-my fault. I think the author read The Game by Neil Strauss, but has nowhere near the writing style. He is full of so much self pride I had to put the book down and say some foul words about him. If you really need help meeting women, look for any other self-help book than this

In one way or another, EVERYONE needs this book!

This book came directly from the author's heart and you will be able to tell as soon as you begin to read it! Not only will this book give you the courage to be yourself and not stray away from situations for fear of being rejected, but it will open doors to countless experiences you would have never been able to encounter while being socially uninvolved. I recommend everyone, even if you already think you are a socially involved person, to read this book. Amazing job!

This manual can be a pain at times. I read this book twice and still had problems figuring out what it was trying to say on its pages. The book that goes with this is much better and really helps you to learn basic concepts that your education didn't address properly especially if you grew up in the 60s.

Having read through this manuscript when in its formative stages, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is researching the Pentecostal Movement or the Azusa Street Revival of Los Angeles that began in the spring of 1906. It is also a good sourcebook for those interested in Black History as William Seymour figures prominently among African-Americans of the 20th Century. Larry Martin has done an excellent job in ferreting out little known facts about William J. Seymour, the leader of the Azusa Street Revival. He has also uncovered information regarding Seymour's family and his early life in Louisiana and other places he traveled before arriving in Los Angeles in 1906. Some of the background information he gives regarding everyday life in Southern Louisiana and in Los Angeles near the turn of the century are essential to the understanding of William J. Seymour and the role he played in the Black Community and in the beginnings of the Pentecostal movement. Having contacted a number of different religious and local archives, looking through old newspapers, census records, city directories, and the like, Dr. Martin has a clear understanding of who William J. Seymour was. This is the most complete biography of William J. Seymour which has been written to date. When combined with his reflections and documentation of the famed Azusa Street Revival, this makes an excellent backdrop for understanding the Pentecostal movement and current revivalism around the globe.

What were Seymour's secrets. Humility, passion, holiness, love for people across racial lines.
Larry Martin begins with Seymour's birth and childhood and vividly protrays his treatment as a black person. Yet Seymour rose beyond racial cruelty and hate--and embraced and spread the unconditional love of God. See for yourself. You've got to read this book.

Without question, Martin has been thorough in documenting the life and times of William J. Seymour, leader of the Azusa Street Mission during its development and flourishing in the early 1900's. His text is enriched with a wealth of photographs, including many from his personal collection. These show the many persons and several places associated with the Azusa Street movement. He also depicts the unfriendly and demeaning treatment of the movement by the Los Angeles press of that time, including its use of racial stereotyping and crude humor. He has thoroughly combed through the many periodicals and other print sources in order to capture as many details as can be gathered at a time that is remote from the original events. This is the first of a series of books that Martin has prepared on Azusa Street. Chapter organization and indexing simplify the search for particulars that may interest the reader.

Jack Bauer returns to fight another day in a NEW 24 Story.

24:Rogue takes place about 20 months after the events of Season 8 and 24:Deadline. Technically David Mack says "The following takes place 1 year, 7 months and 23 days after 24: Deadline."

The story begins at 8pm East Africa time. Jack Bauer is working on a freighter owned by international arms dealer Karl Rask who we see in 24: Live Another Day. Jack is trying to infiltrate Rask organization so he could bring him down and his clients that he sells weapons to. But unfortunately the ship he is on is hijacked by Somalian Pirates and now he must fight to free the ship and stop them from taking what they are looking for.

This novel showed that even in exile and being hunted by the United States and Russia, he is still fighting the good fight and hunting and taking down those who will harm or kill innocent people. I felt that David Mack gave us a good insight on Jack Bauer, and his reasons for what he is doing with his life after the events of 24:Deadline.

Jack has lost everything, his family, his relationship with his daughter Kim and his granddaughter Teri, his friends, his colleagues at CTU, Audrey Raines, Renee Walker, Chloe O'Brian and the quiet life he was looking forward too at the beginning of season 8. That kind of life is no longer possible for Jack, and so he does what he does best.... Saving the day..

This was a good read. I mean I love 24: Deadline more, but I felt ROGUE was an impressive sequel to it, and that David Mack gave great impressions on who Jack Bauer is.

There is a lot of twists and turns in this novel, along with seeing one or two familiar faces from the show. IT IS A MUST READ. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED>

Cannot wait to read the 3rd novel in this series. Hopefully it will come out soon.

I would highly recommend this to any person who watched the T.V. Series and wants a fun ride. Read 24 Deadline before you read this because this book points back to it a few times. I can't wait for the next book to release whenever that is.

During the hundred years examined in this volume, ordinary Germans discovered a new and powerful attachment to the nation. But throughout this period, national loyalties competed with preexisting loyalties to the locality and the region. The resulting tension made it difficult for Germans to assign clear priorities to one kind of symbolic attachment over another.
Focusing on the east German state of Saxony, the contributors to this volume refuse easy resolution of that tension, seeking instead to illustrate how local, regional, and national cultures commingled, diverged, and influenced each other over time. By considering both the erosion and the persistence of traditional identities and regional boundaries, these essays help to restore an appreciation of regional "ways of seeing," suggesting they really did matter--in their own right, and for the nation as a whole.
Topics considered include the expansion of a German reading public, Jewish emancipation, the formation of socio-moral milieus, working-class leisure, the expansion of the public sphere, the rise of consumer co-operatives, gendered attempts to fashion the "new" liberal man, and degradation rituals in the 1920s. Presenting to English-reading audiences the fruits of cutting-edge research conducted in Saxon archives since 1989, the contributors offer innovative ways to reassess the larger sweep of German history.
